DESERT VIEW HIGHLANDS, Los Angeles County — Desert View Highlands is a county-governed unincorporated community, not an ordinary neighborhood inside the City of Palmdale’s municipal boundaries.
Palmdale’s 2045 General Plan planning profile describes the community as an approximately 273-acre county island with residential homes, commercial uses and two elementary schools. The larger city planning study also discusses Palmdale’s sphere of influence and nearby unincorporated land.
Why the boundary matters
Residents seeking a building permit, code enforcement response, land-use interpretation or county-administered infrastructure assistance need to confirm the authority responsible for their parcel. A Palmdale mailing address alone does not establish that City Hall regulates a property.
Property owners can check official parcel maps and confirm whether permits fall under Los Angeles County Building and Safety or Palmdale’s municipal system. The city planning profile is a useful boundary description but is not a substitute for a parcel-specific jurisdiction lookup.
